San Diego Bayfront Springhill Suites & Residence Inn

Welcome to the North Embarcadero's premier destination: the dual-branded Marriott SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn. This remarkable hotel complex meets San Diego's growing need for high-quality, select-service accommodations, offering a blend of style and comfort.

Project Highlights

Situated next to the iconic USS Midway Museum, this hotel is not just a place to stay—it's a destination in itself. With a total of 400 keys (253 SpringHill Suites and 147 Residence Inn), guests enjoy panoramic bay views through floor-to-ceiling windows in every room. The property features 27,000 square feet of retail space, providing a vibrant experience right at your doorstep.

Architecture designed by renowned architect John Portman & Associates, the hotel's aesthetic is a blend of modern sophistication and functional elegance. Integrated Design Engineers (idE) served as the engineer of record, implementing a post-tensioned concrete structural system supported by concrete columns and shear walls. To address the challenges of the waterfront location, a pile foundation was utilized to stabilize the building over the site's liquefiable soil.

Public Art Installation The hotel also proudly hosts a striking $1 million public art commission titled "Ripples" by artist David Franklin. This three-story sculpture, composed of 643 individually cut and assembled aluminum fins, emulates patterns found on maritime tide charts, adding a unique cultural touch to the property.

Experience the perfect blend of innovation and comfort at the San Diego Bayfront SpringHill Suites & Residence Inn—where every stay is as captivating as the views.
