San Diego Bayfront SpringHill Suites & Residence Inn

The North Embarcadero's 253-key SpringHill Suites and 147-key Residence Inn (known as BRIC Phase 1)  answers San Diego's demand for select-service hotels with a higher quality aesthetic. A tourist attraction in itself located next to the USS Midway Museum, 16-story BRIC Phase 1 holds 27,000 square feet of retail space, four levels of parking, a three-story tall sculpture commission by artist David Franklin, and floor-to-ceiling windows for each guest that open to outstanding view of San Diego Bay.

As Engineer of Record, Integrated Design Engineers designed the building's floor framing using a post-tensioned concrete structural system supported on concrete columns and shear walls. Given the site's waterfront location, a pile foundation was used to bridge the liquefiable soil below the building.
